Calderdale Council has given the go-ahead for a holiday let to be converted

In a rare reversal of the usual planning process, a holiday let has been granted permission to be converted into a permanent residential home. Calderdale Council planners have approved an application by M. Howarth to carry out the conversion at Delf Barn, Clapgate Lane, Triangle, near Sowerby Bridge. The one-bedroom holiday let sits within the grounds of Delf Barn, planners were told. Planning officers noted that the property was extended in 2016, at which point permission was also granted for its use as a holiday let. In assessing the application, planners said: "The proposal is considered to fall under the re-use of a building provided that the building is of a permanent and substantial construction. "It is an application for the change of use from holiday let to a permanent residential dwelling. "The building is of a permanent and substantial construction as it has previously been used as a holiday let. "There are no alterations proposed – it is simply a change of use application and considered acceptable in principle."
