Q COSTARICA — Costa Rica continues to strengthen its presence in Asia and expand opportunities for the export sector in high-value-added markets. From June 9 to 12, four Costa Rican companies participated in the Seoul Food & Hotel 2026 trade show, one of the most important trade platforms for the food industry in Asia, which brings together buyers, distributors, supermarket chains, hotels, restaurants, and food service companies from around the world. The Costa Rican delegation consisted of Inalve, Natural Aloe, and Frutera La Paz, companies that will showcase a differentiated offering of dehydrated pineapple and banana, frozen tropical fruits, frozen cassava-based products, and aloe extract; primarily targeting the HORECA segment (hotels, restaurants, and catering services). In addition to their participation in the trade fair, the companies held business meetings and strategic visits to leading chains and retail outlets such as Homeplus, Shinsegae, and Lotte Premium Food Market, with the aim of understanding consumer trends, identifying business opportunities, and strengthening their position in the South Korean market. “Market diversification is one of the main priorities for strengthening the resilience and growth of Costa Rican exports. Asia represents an increasingly relevant opportunity for our companies, and South Korea stands out for its sophistication, purchasing power, and growing interest in differentiated foods. Participating in events like Seoul Food & Hotel allows us to connect Costa Rican exports with new buyers, generate business opportunities, and continue expanding the country’s presence in strategic markets around the world,” stated Laura López, General Manager of PROCOMER. South Korea has established itself as one of Asia’s most dynamic markets for premium, healthy, and convenient foods, driven by consumers increasingly interested in product quality, traceability, innovation, and origin. This context opens opportunities for Costa Rican exports, internationally recognized for their high standards of quality and sustainability. The presence at Seoul Food & Hotel is part of a broader trade promotion agenda that Costa Rica is developing in South Korea this year, including initiatives to strengthen the position of Costa Rican coffee in that market, one of Asia’s most dynamic for high-quality food and beverage products.
