A search warrant was executed at a Redwood Valley property on Saturday morning as part of an investigation into the importation and supply of the class B drug.

A woman in the Nelson area has been arrested and charged with importing and supplying GBL, otherwise known as fantasy. Detective Sergeant Glen Lindup said a raid was carried out by police and Customs at a Redwood Valley property on Saturday as part of an investigation into the importation and supply of the class B drug. A 36-year-old woman was arrested and charged with importing GBL, possessing GBL for supply, and possessing methamphetamine. She was due to appear in Nelson District Court on June 15. Lindup said police and Customs had “no tolerance” for the importation and supply of illicit drugs and would continue working to investigate drug offending in the Nelson area. GBL – commonly known as fantasy or liquid ecstasy – is a depressant which can make users feel nauseous, groggy, confused and cause memory lapses. It was the drug involved in one of New Zealand's largest ever drug seizures, after 1950 litres was uncovered by a joint police and Customs investigation in August last year.
