PHIL PARKINSON does not expect new signings to start arriving at The Racecourse just yet. Parkinson led Wrexham to a record-breaking three successive promotions and then revamped his squad for the 2025-26 campaign, the club's first in the second tier for 43 years. The Reds emerged as play-off contenders and eventually finished seventh, just two points away from a Championship play-off spot. Keen to strengthen his squad for 2026-27 when Wrexham will again aim to seal a place in the Premier League for the first time in the club's history, Parkinson has earmarked potential targets and been linked with a number of players including Swansea midfielder Ethan Galbraith and Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, But with the World Cup now underway, the Reds' boss does not expect any business to be completed anytime soon. "The World Cup always slows down elements of the market and we are expecting that will be the same," he said. "I am not anticipating a lot of movement in the next few weeks. "There was a lot of change last year. Some came in early like Danny Ward and Ryan Hardie, others came in later. "We are pretty clear in the areas we would like to add and as ever, we are working very hard to achieve that. "But sometimes the work at this stage of the summer is very much unnoticed because it is speaking to agents and certain players, and making sure we are in the loop with people we want to bring in." Parkinson completed 13 new signings in the summer transfer window while three more players - Zak Vyner, Davis Keillor-Dunn and Bailey Cadamarteri - arrived in the winter. Although he wants to add fresh faces, he is looking forward to having a full pre-season with the squad he has already assembled and he believes there is more to come from the group of players already at The Racecourse. "We have got a good squad to go into pre-season with," added the Reds' boss. "If you look at the numbers coming back for pre-season, we have got a strong squad. "Like every year, every other clubs in the division are always looking to improve and we will be doing that but equally, we are looking forward to having a full pre-season with the team we put together last year as well. Wrexham to benefit financially from having two players at the World Cup Phil Parkinson addresses transfer speculation amid Wrexham improvement plans So much talent to choose from at Wrexham Football Club "A lot of that improvement I feel will come within the existing group. I think there is more to come from the group we have got and that is really important. "I think we will improve anyway with the lads we have got and if we can add to that as well, that is obviously the aim. "We are looking forward to having good full pre-season with the group we have got and if we add to that as we go along, that will be to help the squad we have got in place at the moment."
